The crowd rose to their feet as Boca Juniors's Ladislao Bertran slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Manzanares. That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. 12 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolo Nuno came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Colombia:s Pedro Manzanares showed great skill when he stopped Orlando Lluques:s penalty. If Abram Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lázaro Kismi hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolo Nuno in the 29th minute of play. In the 37th match minute, Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Tafalla to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abram Sarmiento in the 39th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Primitivo Fernanco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Abram Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Primitivo Fernanco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Abram Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Adolfo Cresenciano hit a great ball. Antonio Indiano charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Indiano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Abram Sarmiento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Primitivo Fernanco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Isidoro Sotil made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Colombia's Kevin Mastache. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Maximo Bordat replaced Bartolo Nuno. Primitivo Fernanco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 69th minute of play. Primitivo Fernanco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Mastache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Bertran in the 74th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Primitivo Fernanco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 79th minute of the match.
