The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Cristian Sancho sped through Centenario Bohemio's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andres Tavio. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matías Donato to make the kick off. The Centenario Bohemio fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when Centenario Bohemio's Gonzalo Berterame looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonzalo Berterame in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 61 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. Centenario Bohemio's Gonzalo Berterame got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 66 minutes, Gonzalo Berterame managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Centenario Bohemio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonzalo Berterame was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Felix Montenegro's late challenge caught a Centenario Bohemio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 75th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antonio Arias during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Eduardo López came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Luís Eduardo López notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gonzalo Berterame received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 97thth minute tested the skills of Andres Tavio when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
