Zeledon Oso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honduras's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Espiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isidoro Frutos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 14 minutes into the game, Emanuel Ocampo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Honduras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Argentino de Merlo the free kick. Emanuel Ocampo kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Isidoro Frutos was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 19 minutes into the game, Miguel Borja threw the ball into play from the sideline. Honduras's Valentín Carvallo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some careless play in the Argentino de Merlo defense, Edmundo Espiga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isidoro Frutos. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 25th minute of play forced Argentino de Merlo's goalkeeper Isidoro Frutos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orlando Abalos's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Orlando Abalos helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Espiga in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isidoro Frutos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 39 minutes of play, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Isidoro Frutos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Isidoro Frutos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 47th minute of play. The Argentino de Merlo players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Honduras were winning 1-2.

With his leg Isidoro Frutos managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when Honduras's Edmundo Espiga fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Honduras booed when Argentino de Merlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeronimo Mikelats didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isidoro Frutos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 59th minute of play. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atilano Salomone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmundo Espiga who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Isidoro Frutos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Emanuel Ocampo got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute, Zeledon Oso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 70 minutes, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundo Espiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edmundo Espiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Argentino de Merlo's Basilio Urtun was substituted for Atilano Salomone. Isidoro Frutos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Espinar, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Borja kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, Argentino de Merlo's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Villa came free, but Isidoro Frutos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Basilio Urtun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernan Naike, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmundo Espiga's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 94thth minute, Isidoro Frutos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honduras's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Espiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isidoro Frutos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Honduras played a much better game than Argentino de Merlo and deserved their victory. The Argentino de Merlo players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
