Tostão Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tostão Arantes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 26 played minutes Czar Sporting got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Nunes. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardinho Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 35 played minutes Czar Sporting got a freekick which was hit by Ulryk Trzaskoma. Tostão Arantes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 37th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Roberto Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Czar Sporting booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Luque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Roberto Castro scored 1-1 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 47th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Gaona to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Czar Sporting's Ricardinho Carioca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dante Lacasa. That made the score 2-1 after 48 minutes of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Castro came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute of the match Czar Sporting got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Roberto Castro ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Tostão Arantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. After a rather tough play, Czar Sporting's João Carlos Batista got a free kick in the 58th minute. Facundo Cadaval's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tostão Arantes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute, Czar Sporting's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lautaro Mancebo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 74 minutes into the match, Ricardinho Carioca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and André Luís Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 96 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Leal came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bogdan Olejarz hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
