The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 31st managed to get into a good position.
