With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Christian Goy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Uruguay's attentive Arturo Carvallo managed to snatch the ball when Polo Maldini made a throw-in in the 51st minute of the game. In the 52nd minute, Francisco Seco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christian Goy was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Francisco Seco in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Christian Goy, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
