Lyle Coppack showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 18 minutes into the match, USA's goalkeeper Marco Day had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mihăiţă Stolniceanu. Monty Rogers struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Lyle Coppack didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for USA. The audience was convinced that Jenson Smith's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lyle Coppack was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Lyle Coppack stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Monty Rogers's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. The supporters of USA booed when Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anacleto Geofredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the referee blew the final whistle, Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely could leave the field as winners, despite USA having more of the ball for most of the match.
