The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Pamplona FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leo Guevara in the 17th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Carrillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Elar Queron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 22nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Abel Carrillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Pamplona FC's Reiner Naranjo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Reiner Naranjo sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. In the 38th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Elar Queron took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the game, Elpidio Pinga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pamplona FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 45th minute, one of Pamplona FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pamplona FC. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Pamplona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Elar Queron reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Pamplona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Izydor Betonowy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Izydor Betonowy hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute of the match Israel Figueroa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Sanchez in the 69th minute of play. After 70 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Israel Figueroa who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Israel Figueroa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pamplona FC's goalkeeper Elar Queron, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Elpidio Pinga hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Elar Queron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Humberto Sanchez's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Elar Queron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Elar Queron in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 92 minutes, Humberto Sanchez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pamplona FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Sanchez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Venezuela supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Venezuela would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
