Alberto Tafalla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joris Verheecke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. When Nemesio Valentine fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wisła Tczew's protests and gave Nemesio Valentine a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Wisła Tczew's Nemesio Valentine got a free kick in the 25th minute. After some careless play in the Wisła Tczew defense, Luca Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joris Verheecke. The Wisła Tczew fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joris Verheecke should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 34th minute of play forced Wisła Tczew's goalkeeper Joris Verheecke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elazar Calderon to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joris Verheecke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joris Verheecke was a little too slow when Joel Gaona got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 75th minute. The score was now 0-2. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Joel Gaona took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Joris Verheecke to make any attempt to save it. 84 minutes had been played when some careless play by Wisła Tczew's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Facundo Cadaval heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cyryl Skonieczny in the 88th minute of play. In the 89th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joris Verheecke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wisła Tczew's Nemesio Valentine got his second yellow card of the match in the 92nd minute. The referee ordered Nemesio Valentine off the ground. In the 93rd minute, Nemesio Valentine hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
