Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dalmacio Musko in the 9th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmacio Musko in the 12th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. Dalmacio Musko might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dalmacio Musko ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dalmacio Musko got free with Julio Vera in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Estudiantes de rio IV's Emilio Palos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 36th minute of play. When Segundo Gaxan fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Estudiantes de rio IV's protests and gave Segundo Gaxan a yellow card for diving instead. Segundo Gaxan hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off.
