Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 卓震宽 having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when La Estacion FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodosio Elazar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henry Lagarde to strike the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 卓震宽 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but 卓震宽 made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henry Lagarde in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Juan Carlos Jiménez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
