With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juaneizu Merida saved Nacional from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 9th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Juaneizu Merida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. In the 15thth minute of the game Grabiel Escorcia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Grabiel Escorcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 19th minute of the match. Grabiel Escorcia might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Grabiel Escorcia ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 21st minute of play. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Grabiel Escorcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 29th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grabiel Escorcia's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Grabiel Escorcia put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 40th minute of play. In the 41st minute Grabiel Escorcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Jony Maidana kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Grabiel Escorcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Grabiel Escorcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Grabiel Escorcia scored 7-0 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 83 minutes into the match, Grabiel Escorcia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Grabiel Escorcia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grabiel Escorcia in the 92nd minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
