Abel de Godoi might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abel de Godoi ran back to his position shaking his head. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Olivedos's Luisinho Ceresso got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 63 minutes into the match, Abel de Godoi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abel de Godoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. With a little luck, Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Abel de Godoi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Abel de Godoi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
