With a little luck, Kolopetinitsa's Güralp Uğurtan got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Patricio Costa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Güralp Uğurtan. That made the score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Güralp Uğurtan having to interfere. Güralp Uğurtan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Güralp Uğurtan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Kolopetinitsa's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Güralp Uğurtan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Despite this Güralp Uğurtan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 71st minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Güralp Uğurtan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Patricio Costa fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Patricio Costa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 74th match minute, Kolopetinitsa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dionysis Salaggoudis to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
