The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Alvi Verde booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Curbelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 5th minute of the match Wilbert Ugalde shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardo Zorita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luis Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Alvi Verde's Rodolfo Perfecto got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Bert Karlsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Jorge Mattos kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Bert Karlsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bert Karlsson in the 28th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Bert Karlsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Ricardo Zorita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Wilbert Ugalde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Bert Karlsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Bert Karlsson succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-6. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilbert Ugalde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the game, Alvi Verde's Peker Suersan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7.

The wind increased when Bert Karlsson made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Wilbert Ugalde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Bert Karlsson notched a goal, 0-8, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cuero Buseth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Ricardo Zorita made a huge save. Rodolfo Perfecto came free with the goalkeeper in the 63rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ricardo Zorita could save by the left post. Ricardo Zorita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bert Karlsson's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilbert Ugalde in the 67th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Piarres Cabredo got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Alvi Verde's Ricardo Zorita threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilbert Ugalde, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save El Salvador from getting a goal against them. If Bert Karlsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Zorita was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Bert Karlsson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bert Karlsson really showed his touch with that goal: 0-10. When the final whistle sounded Alvi Verde left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than El Salvador.
