Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Ronaldo Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ferreira Lopes MZC's Tomé Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Montenegro in the 15th minute of play. After 18 minutes, Dedé Paiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ferreira Lopes MZC and the Colombia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 18 played minutes Ferreira Lopes MZC got a freekick which was hit by Dedé Paiva. 23 minutes into the match, Ferreira Lopes MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Santino Seco came free, but Tomé Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tomé Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomé Montenegro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santino Seco in the 31st minute of the match. Franklin Souza was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 39 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, one of Ferreira Lopes MZC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ferreira Lopes MZC. Tomé Montenegro had in the 40thth minute some difficulties stopping Axel Montenegro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Ferreira Lopes MZC's Ali Kağan Erol pulled a muscle in his leg after 43 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 46th match minute, Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Indiano to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Ferreira Lopes MZC made a substitution. Herald Depauw replaced Luka Beaugendre. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronaldo Alcântara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Ferreira Lopes MZC booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 76th minute Ronaldo Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ferreira Lopes MZC's Tomé Montenegro got control of the ball when Ignacio Mastache tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldo Alcântara in the 82nd minute of the match.
