The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfredinho Dias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C's José Paulo Bezerra got control of the ball when Axel Tasis tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 19 minutes, Alfredinho Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredinho Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilmar Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredinho Dias in the 25th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Axel Tasiss short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got José Paulo Bezerra to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. José Paulo Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Axel Tasis during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Axel Tasis hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Dias in the 40th minute of play. 41 minutes into the game, Nilmar Coelho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Bezerra having to interfere. The Costa Rica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C were winning 0-3.

In the 53rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Carballo to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes in the game Nilmar Coelho got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. Alexander Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 71 played minutes UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C got a freekick which was hit by Edmundo Vaz. The audience thought a goal was coming when İbrahim Ibrahimovic got free with Benito Sanz in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Juan Rubio fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Juan Rubio a yellow card for diving instead. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Nilmar Coelho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Cléberson Alves hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Nilmar Coelho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Edmundo Vaz's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edmundo Vaz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilmar Coelhos short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by İbrahim Ibrahimovic in the 93rd minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Dias in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded UNƗÃØ ĐΔ CΔƗXΔ ₣C left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Costa Rica.
