The throw-in from Juan Diego Tenorio in the 6th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by CE LAJEADENSE RS's Adilson Montenegro. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jaime Pardo sped through CE LAJEADENSE RS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Waldir da Mata. After having played for 16 minutes, Alan Campos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alan Campos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. CE LAJEADENSE RS's attentive Adilson Montenegro managed to snatch the ball when Juan Diego Tenorio made a throw-in in the 24th minute of the game. After 26 played minutes CE LAJEADENSE RS got a freekick which was hit by Mário Leme. 28 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Waldir da Mata had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hector Covarrubias. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adilson Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Jaime Pardo was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 32nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Váldson Berger got a free kick in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Jose Sanz got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute of the game Juan Diego Tenorio made a throw-in which Jaime Pardo played forward. 42 minutes into the game, Ivan Prats cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. After 47 minutes, Luís de Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CE LAJEADENSE RS and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. The wind increased when Váldson Berger made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Waldir da Mata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Covarrubias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir da Mata breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Waldir da Mata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Adilson Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Jaime Pardo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 65th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Waldir da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldir da Mata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The supporters of CE LAJEADENSE RS booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Sanz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute, Luís de Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Waldir da Mata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Primitivo Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 84 minutes into the game, Oséas Miranda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CE LAJEADENSE RS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paraguay the free kick. A collision led to CE LAJEADENSE RS getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Oséas Miranda hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in CE LAJEADENSE RS's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir da Mata came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Waldir da Mata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 89th minute of play. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Paraguay's Jaime Pardo in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalie prevented a goal. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir da Mata having to interfere. There was no doubt that Paraguay were the better team. Paraguay's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
