Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 蒋青洲 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes in the game Camilo Gisbert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luis Andino. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 方磊耀 in the 89th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 方磊耀 in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Ecuador manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing 广西来宾剑鱼代表队 to win.
