Arturo Baruffa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carmine Righi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The supporters of H Romeu booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Secada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carmine Righi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the match, H Romeu's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Cláudio Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to H Romeu getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Vágner Mandrak hit a great ball. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Carmine Righi scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

58 minutes into the match, H Romeu's Carmine Righi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Carmine Righi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute Ulryk Czubski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
