In the 8thth minute of the game Antônio Carlos Valadares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olivedos's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Tomas Illescas scored to the left of an out of position Víktor Mineiro, making the score, 1-0. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Mendes in the 21st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute of the match, Patricio Costa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Víktor Mineiro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Olivedos's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Víktor Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edson Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. When Ulysses Romero fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olivedos's protests and gave Ulysses Romero a yellow card for diving instead. In the 34th minute, Ulysses Romero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 36 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Víktor Mineiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Antônio Carlos Valadares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Víktor Mineiro came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Patricio Costa. But to his dismay, Patricio Costa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 62nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the game, Camilo Gaos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olivedos the free kick. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The long shot by Dário Viana in the 65th minute really tested Jonathan Ferrant's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Víktor Mineiro having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 76th minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Víktor Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Víktor Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Víktor Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 82nd minute of the match. In the 85th match minute, Olivedos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fabiano Dias to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Fabiano Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Víktor Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 87th minute of play. The supporters of Olivedos booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball.
