The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Walmyr Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Walmyr Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched AVAÍ F.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
