The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alejandro Cugat was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Alejandro Cugat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Primitivo Andino made in the 15th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Felix Montenegro. After 19 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alejandro Cugat was left in no man's land by his defense there! But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. Ecuador made a substitution. Diego Mancebo replaced Agustín Saelices. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ♫ Highway To Hell ❼❾ ♫ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esteve Rioja didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alejandro Cugat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 46th minute of the match. Albino Galo's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albino Galo helped the player get up and apologised. After 47 played minutes ♫ Highway To Hell ❼❾ ♫ got a freekick which was hit by Albino Galo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-9 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. In the 80th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-17. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alejandro Cugat came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 0-19 in the 87th minute. In the 91st minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alejandro Cugat was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-20. Daniel Zorita scored 0-21 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alejandro Cugat, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than ♫ Highway To Hell ❼❾ ♫.
