If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 8th minute of play forced AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Horácio Tasso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Horácio Tasso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Bittencourt in the 14th minute of play. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio Tasso having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Horácio Tasso. Horácio Tasso yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Horácio Tasso made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Joel Gaona ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horácio Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Horácio Tasso made a huge save. Luca Zorita was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 30th minute. Mexico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Gláuber Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Lautaro Mancebo made a precise shot to the right of Horácio Tasso. AVAÍ F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. After 47 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Queirós. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Lúcio Eger replaced Aírton Xavier. After a rather tough play, AVAÍ F.C.'s Ronaldo Queirós got a free kick in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

53 minutes into the match, Alberto Tafalla had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horácio Tasso. AVAÍ F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberto Tafalla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Juan Bittencourt sent off a good shot on target. Joel Gaona might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Horácio Tasso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joel Gaona ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 59th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horácio Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. 61 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Horácio Tasso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. In the 66thth minute of the game Joel Gaona who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AVAÍ F.C.'s Horácio Tasso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio Tasso having to interfere. AVAÍ F.C.'s Horácio Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Zorita in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Alberto Tafalla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horácio Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Horácio Tasso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Horácio Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 80 minutes, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Tafalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 81 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Nelsinho Catarinense. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. After 83 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Albertinho Lucas. Horácio Tasso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 84th minute of play. Ronaldo Queirós charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldo Queirós the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 85 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Queirós. Horácio Tasso came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. AVAÍ F.C.'s Horácio Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 92nd minute of play. Horácio Tasso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 94th minute of the match. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horácio Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
