In the 11th match minute, Miguir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerry Grasmück to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grueso Armental saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Peru's Julian Murillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Grueso Armental made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gerry Grasmück in the 20 minute of the game. Grueso Armental took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Mina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Joaquin Prats got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Grueso Armental quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Joaquin Prats took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Grueso Armental to make any attempt to save it. 34 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Grueso Armental narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 39 minutes into the match, Miguir's goalkeeper Grueso Armental had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Milagros Fraga. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Alonso Berganza got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 4-0. 41 minutes into the match. Grueso Armental showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roch Palzewicz to make the kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Miguir's goalkeeper Grueso Armental, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roch Palzewicz got free with Rolando Noboa in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Moreno Martins sent off a good shot on target. Miguir's Grueso Armental played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milagros Fraga in the 61st minute of play. The supporters of Peru booed when Miguir was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Veremundo Buyeres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguir's Boris Arancibia was substituted for Juan Esiquio. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Grueso Armental was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. 77 minutes into the match, Miguir's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Grueso Armental reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
