Lawrence Lawless didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Mina went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lawrence Lawless. Lawrence Lawless dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lawrence Lawless narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Baraquiel in the 21st minute of play. Darwin Bramantio made in the 27th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Primeiro Imperiale immediately put the ball in play. Descamisados CF's Lawrence Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 44th minute of play. Alonso Berganza hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After the first half Peru were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. Descamisados CF's Lawrence Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 51st minute of play. Peru were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Descamisados CF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eliseo Mina took the corner. Arturo Salomone made in the 88th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Ricardo Bochini however managed to control. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Lawrence Lawless made a huge save. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ceferino Bakar in the 93rd minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
