Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Genk from getting a goal against them. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel did a great save. With a little luck, Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Vergil Rupov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rain De Hond in the 67th minute of play. Jannes Van Leempoel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannes Van Leempoel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannes Van Leempoel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genk made a substitution.
