Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Villa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute David Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute of the match Capo de Provincia got a corner. USA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. César Pretot ran over to the corner to take the kick. Capo de Provincia's David Villa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Marco Day in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 21 minutes into the match, USA's Monty Rogers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Héctor Barra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Héctor Barra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Villa got free with Marco Day in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Capo de Provincia were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after USA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. César Pretot took the corner. Héctor Barra came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by USA's Cassius Byrne. But to his dismay, Cassius Byrne quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Edward Mcdonald might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Héctor Barra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Mcdonald ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 39th minute, Fructuoso Acedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Héctor Barra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Luis Jiménez's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marco Day firmly grabbed it by the left post. 44 minutes into the game, Juan Riquelme was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capo de Provincia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave USA the free kick. In the 44th match minute, Capo de Provincia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Riquelme to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Villa to make the kick off. If Edward Mcdonald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute, Alejandro Martxelin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Capo de Provincia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. Conrado Cumsille kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Alejandro Martxelin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. The supporters of Capo de Provincia booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Baker didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Héctor Barra successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Despite being the better team, USA failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
