Francisco Seco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Lucio Matia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lucio Matia. That made the score 5-0 after 22 minutes of play. 25 minutes into the game, Maximiliano Escribano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Lucio Matia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 95th minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucio Matia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 96th minute, Maximiliano Escribano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lucio Matia was frozen by the shot and now it was 17-0. When the referee ended the match the Uruguay players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
