Sandu Amitroaiei replaced Horia Zăreanu. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Ion Oniga made the kick off in the second half. Nichifor Abutnăriței could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento got a free kick in the 64th minute. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Marian Tinu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Miercani's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Isidoro Sarmiento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ion Oniga in the 89th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Miercani's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Alguacil came free, but Grigore Constantin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grigore Constantin having to interfere. Panama's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
