The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Andréas Linquist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 19th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andréas Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Geovanildo Zago threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Efraim Gilabert quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andréas Linquist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andréas Linquist didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 28th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Selman Pektaşi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emmanuel Reyes hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Andréas Linquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 46th minute of play. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andréas Linquist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Geovanildo Zago hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Andréas Linquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 60th minute of play. Luz Tejedor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Andréas Linquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Grêmio Papão de WC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Nestor Perrando hit a great ball. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Filip Mika in the 72nd minute. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andréas Linquist was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. In the 76th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when José Leme tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 81st minute, Grêmio Papão de WC's José Leme dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Andréas Linquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Gallo in the 91st minute of the match. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio Papão de WC's Rodrigo Muniz slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rolando Noboa. That made the score 1-2 after 96 minutes of play. Chants of Grêmio Papão de WC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Peru had held the ball for most of the match.
