In the 20thth minute of the game Pastor Sagrario who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Juan Ignacio Mercier hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Dionisio Ondino came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Dionisio Ondino in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dionisio Ondino made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dionisio Ondino was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. 39 minutes into the match, Elite Azulgrana's goalkeeper Dionisio Ondino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Cristian Sancho sped through Elite Azulgrana's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dionisio Ondino. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
