Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Errapel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laureano Sustrai in the 42nd minute of play. After 47 minutes of play, Santa Maradona's Rodolfo Cordeiro made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 70th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Miguel Transito took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. In the 75th minute, Patricio Costa had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wei Kang Hai during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Venezuela made a substitution. Roberto Ocampo replaced Patricio Costa. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Santa Maradona's Rodolfo Cordeiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 0-5 after 81 minutes of play.
