The wind increased when David Rios made the kick off in the second half. Óli Manfredi might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Noboa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inge Marin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Gallo in the 88th minute of the match. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Apolo Abancens made a throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game. Peru's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
