Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Yoel Quevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roberto Contreras charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roberto Contreras the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 60th minute of the game. One of Recolta Alamor:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ecuador:s goal. Ecuadors' Yoel Quevedo made a terrific save as he just managed to stop Daniel Zoritas penalty just before it crossed the line at his left post. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Recolta Alamor's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Recolta Alamor's goalkeeper Yoel Quevedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Recolta Alamor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norman Donnelly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yoel Quevedo having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Recolta Alamor's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Yoel Quevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Recolta Alamor's Yoel Quevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
