In the 25th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Red Reign's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. Joel Gaona blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dawid Ratulowski having to make a save. 29 minutes into the match, Red Reign's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Dawid Ratulowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Red Reign's Dawid Ratulowski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Red Reign from getting a goal against them. Fabian Cerdeño kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dawid Ratulowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Joel Gaona's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Dawid Ratulowski on his right side and into the goal. 46 minutes into the game it was 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute Maximo Villamarin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dawid Ratulowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 72nd minute of play forced Red Reign's goalkeeper Dawid Ratulowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the game, Mexico's Joel Gaona nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Facundo Cadaval managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Facundo Cadaval was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dawid Ratulowski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
