Paraguay's attentive Juan Diego Tenorio managed to snatch the ball when Porfirio Regulez made a throw-in in the 8th minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Gartzi Domingo in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano. Arano Uncal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 23rd minute. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gartzi Domingo's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. After 30 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Pardo. Beturian Bautista hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The supporters of ALIANZA 1901 booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Covarrubias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Arano Uncal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Xamin Goicoolea's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xamin Goicoolea helped the player get up and apologised. Arano Uncal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Pardo in the 48th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gartzi Domingo to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gartzi Domingo in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Zenaido Carmona tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Alan Campos fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paraguay's protests and gave Alan Campos a yellow card for diving instead. When Jaime Pardo came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Pardo couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Paraguay booed when ALIANZA 1901 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Llin Fortea didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Jaime Pardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arano Uncal was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Arano Uncal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaime Pardo's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Jaime Pardo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arano Uncal having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Pardo in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arano Uncal saved ALIANZA 1901 from getting behind. Despite being the better team, Paraguay failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
