Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fredy Montero, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero. But to his dismay, Fredy Montero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 33rd minute Fredy Montero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matias Lobo hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Fredy Montero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Eurico lago was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Clube de Gaya's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 47th minute, Eurico lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucílio Figueiras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Renato Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Clube de Gaya's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Fredy Montero tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 67th minute of the match Sporting Clube de Gaya got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fredy Montero ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fredy Montero got free with Julio Vera in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Matias Lobo hit a great ball. 76 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renato Vargas saved Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eloy Hats in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Eloy Hats put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. In the 85th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matias Lobo hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match.
