Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílton Sá having to interfere. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Silva in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 14th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Donato Guerra notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute, Geraldo de Godoi made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 34 minutes into the match, Geraldo de Godoi notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 37 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Axel Tasis. In the 40th minute, Armando Donatello ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donato Guerra in the 44th minute of the match. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. In the 47th minute, Lautaro Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geraldo de Godoi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 60 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Taquaral Campineiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Taquaral Campineiro booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the game, Aaron Alcocer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Taquaral Campineiro the free kick. Aaron Alcocer kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Geraldo de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taquaral Campineiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Geraldo de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donato Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. The supporters of Taquaral Campineiro booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geraldo de Godoi got free with Benito Sanz in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 89 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Axel Tasis. 91 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Amílton Sá was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Taquaral Campineiro played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
