Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luisito Salvino. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Luisito Salvino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guillermo Mariano during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 95 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. The Japy Man players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
