Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nelsinho Nascimento in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The corner ended in Felix Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Guará FC's Nelsinho Nascimento did a great save. Felix Montenegro did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Nelsinho Nascimento 10 minutes into the match. Lachezar Dzhevov hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Nascimento having to interfere. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Nascimento having to interfere. In the 30th match minute, Guará FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lachezar Dzhevov to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Guará FC's Nelsinho Nascimento got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nelsinho Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Guará FC's Zé Pedro Baiano got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Guará FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juan Sebastián Puig. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelsinho Nascimento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. Nelsinho Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 52nd minute of the match. Guará FC's Ronaldão Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Guará FC's Kristian Beckenbauer got a free kick in the 69th minute. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelsinho Nascimento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 71st minute of play forced Guará FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelsinho Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Guará FC's Nelsinho Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 78th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Guará FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiago Gabriel Vieira got free with Julio Vera in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nelsinho Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiago Gabriel Vieira in the 91st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Guará FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Nascimento came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nelsinho Nascimento. Guará FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
