Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alexander Mostovoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Uriel Porfirio hit a great ball. Acácio Gaspar was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alan Moruga. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yoga Cura, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Uriel Porfirio took the corner. With 85 minutes on the clock, Pedro Ribeiro commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. When Axel Tasis came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Tasis couldn't finish the play.
