Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Luiz Fábio Lopez took the kick off in the first half of the match. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Família Ressaca MZ defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romeu Donato. The Família Ressaca MZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romeu Donato should have stopped the shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anísio Sampaio in the 11th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Lopez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Wanderson Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Romeu Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oswaldo Tróia made in the 24th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Juninho Urbano immediately put the ball in play. 26 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Wanderson Cerezo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 32 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was João Augusto Trancoso who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in João Augusto Trancoso almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Lopez in the 35th minute of play. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romeu Donato breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Família Ressaca MZ's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeu Donato came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Wanderson Cerezo fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Família Ressaca MZ's protests and gave Wanderson Cerezo a yellow card for diving instead. 47 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Fábio Lopez. After the first half Venezuela were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Romeu Donato made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. When Oswaldo Tróia fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Família Ressaca MZ's protests and gave Oswaldo Tróia a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Oswaldo Tróia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 59th minute of the match Oswaldo Tróia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Oswaldo Tróia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 60 played minutes Família Ressaca MZ got a freekick which was hit by Oswaldo Tróia. Guillermo Mariano got a throw-in 64 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Tomas Illescas. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 66th minute. Jonathan Venegas made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Família Ressaca MZ's Romeu Donato managed to reach the ball for a save. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Família Ressaca MZ getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Wanderson Cerezo hit a great ball. The supporters of Família Ressaca MZ booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the game, Luiz Fábio Lopez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Família Ressaca MZ's Romeu Donato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 77th minute of play. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Romeu Donato made a huge save. In the 91st minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Família Ressaca MZ succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Venezuela had controlled the match.
