The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 10th minute. The supporters of Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betinho Falcão in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betinho Falcão in the 34th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caio Souza hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Uriel Porfirio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร's supporters rose to their feet, but Uriel Porfirio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Paulo Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Mostovoi in the 45th minute of the match. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 48th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Acácio Gaspar but with some difficulty. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Betinho Falcão in the 55th minute of the match. In the 56th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. The referee ignored Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร's protests and gave Betinho Falcão a yellow card for diving instead. In the 62nd match minute, Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Falcão to maneuver through the defense. A well-hit corner resulted in Alan Moruga heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yoga Cura got free with Benito Sanz in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร's Betinho Falcão got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Paulo Neves in the 98th minute. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ⲙσсσсɑ Βᴜꓲꓲร were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
