The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Jorginho Soares dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jacobo Nores, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Internazionale-RS's David Godoi got a free kick in the 6th minute. After 8 played minutes Internazionale-RS got a freekick which was hit by Teodoro Costa. Jaime Pardo scored 1-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Filipe Travassos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 14th minute, Celsinho Britto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th minute of the match Juan Diego Tenorio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Filipe Travassos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Filipe Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Primitivo Escribano in the 18th minute of play. After 22 minutes of play, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Filipe Travassos was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Jorginho Soares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Filipe Travassos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Filipe Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute of the match Paraguay got a corner. Internazionale-RS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jaime Pardo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Filipe Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Internazionale-RS's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Covarrubias came free, but Filipe Travassos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Jaime Pardo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. Filipe Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 54th minute of the match. Internazionale-RS's attentive Horácio Oliveira managed to snatch the ball when Jose Sanz made a throw-in in the 58th minute of the game. Jaime Pardo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 63rdth minute, Filipe Travassos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With his leg Filipe Travassos managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jose Sanz's late challenge caught a Internazionale-RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jose Sanz helped the player get up and apologised. Jose Sanz kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. With a little luck, Internazionale-RS's Filipe Travassos got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Internazionale-RS's Rodrigo Magalhães got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 1-6 when Jaime Pardo sped through Internazionale-RS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Filipe Travassos. Filipe Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Pardo in the 79th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 81 minutes into the game, when Iker Tafalla put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Paraguay fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 81st minute. Penalty! In the 87th minute, Rodrigo Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorginho Soares in the 89th minute of the match. Rodrigo Magalhães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Internazionale-RS's zone, Hector Covarrubias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filipe Travassos came out of the goal and Hector Covarrubias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paraguay's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
