Benito Sanz had in the 18thth minute some difficulties stopping Agnaldo Paraíba's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Marcos da Fonseca came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cássio Furtado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. After 29 played minutes Ricart Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by André Luís de Sena. The supporters of Ricart Futebol Clube booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 54 minutes into the game, Aílton Corrêa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. Aílton Corrêa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Aílton Corrêa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but Aílton Corrêa slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 58th minute.
