After 21 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Duncan Mcinnes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling John Aldridge in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A nice corner shot did that Mo Salah got away a dangerous shot. Duncan Mcinnes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 28 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mo Salah in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32nd minute of the match Manly FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nilson Snabl ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Nilson Snabl almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Mo Salah kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when John Aldridge made the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Mcinnes having to interfere. Duncan Mcinnes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute of play forced Manly FC's goalkeeper Duncan Mcinnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. John Aldridge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Mo Salah blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Manly FC's Matthias Hanslow was substituted for Fleming Wal. Mo Salahs short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 75th minute of play forced Manly FC's goalkeeper Duncan Mcinnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Irving Bonnison fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manly FC's protests and gave Irving Bonnison a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Manly FC's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duncan Mcinnes came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mo Salahs short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Mo Salah who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 89th match minute, Manly FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John Aldridge to maneuver through the defense. Manly FC's attentive Jasmine Kaine managed to snatch the ball when Primitivo Andino made a throw-in in the 91st minute of the game. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Duncan Mcinnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.
