The audience thought a goal was coming when Edwin Koppen got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edwin Koppen. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Etienne Van Achteren, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Wils FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Venezuela's Enrique Pozo was substituted for Jose Correa. In the 18th match minute, Wils FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claus Van Dijck to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute, Etienne Van Achteren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andreas Frans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andreas Frans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thibaud Verhulst charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edwin Koppen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Andreas Frans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 55th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Harald De Messemaeckre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
