The tension between the Ecuador and the The Shadows players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 7th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bastian Von Axelson in the 8th minute. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niklas Lundqvist's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. In the 11th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Basso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. 16 minutes into the match, The Shadows's Karl-Åke Andreasson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 18 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Marcos Basso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Shadows's Herbert Holmgren got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 23 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of The Shadows's Marcos Basso. Marcos Basso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Niklas Lundqvist went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niklas Lundqvist in the 29th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Basso having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niklas Lundqvist in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Marcos Basso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute of the match, Berndt Edelweiss got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Bastian Von Axelson came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the The Shadows fans jumped to their feet. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when The Shadows's Niklas Lundqvist fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
When The Shadows's Niklas Lundqvist in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Marcos Basso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marcos Basso firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 59 minutes The Shadows's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niklas Lundqvist in the 60th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcos Basso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niklas Lundqvist in the 63rd minute of play. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than The Shadows throughout the match.
