Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandros Ismael breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 30 minutes, Jacinto Galeno mouthed his way into the referee's book. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jacinto Galeno came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jacinto Galeno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Jacinto Galeno tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 72 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Galeno in the 73rd minute of the match. Alexandros Ismael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play. If Jacinto Galeno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Jacinto Galeno sent off a good shot on target. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Águilas Poblanas's goalie prevented a goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Águilas Poblanas were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Ecuador side.
